If you’ve not yet visited the Spanish city of Barcelona, you must! Full of culture, history and the home of Cava, it is one city you must visit in your lifetime. Treat yourself to one of the cheap holidays on offer and discover what makes this city so special.
LAS RAMBLAS: Barcelona airport transfers and flights are a great time to leaf through your guide book whilst admiring the landscapes and views whizzing past you. After a quick stop at your hotel, take a stroll down Las Ramblas, the most famous street in the city lined with stalls, entertainment, delicious foods and cute cafes. With the harbour at one end, it connects Placa Catalunya in the centre with the Christopher Columbus monument, whilst going through the ‘Gothic Quarter’. Take some time to explore the many streets off Las Ramblas to discover hidden restaurants and bars you’ll want to try out or take a horse drawn carriage through the streets for a real Spanish experience.
GAUDI: If your holidays are usually full of sightseeing, then Barcelona is the right place. Famed for its myriad of architecture, the city is a culmination of old and new, the traditional and the fantastical. Home of Antonio Gaudi, you can see his buildings all over the city – the most famous being the cartoonish Casa Batllo, with its curved edges and intricate details. Be sure to spend an afternoon in Parc Guell, an enormous and amazing park designed by Gaudi himself. And no trip to Barcelona is complete without taking in the breathtaking architecture of the huge and unfinished temple, Sagrada Familia. Push your vertigo fears to one side and climb the steps to the top – the views are absolutely breathtaking.
