Learn To Play Keyboard: Tips To Get Started
February 25, 2010 on 5:13 am | By admin | In Arts and Entertainment | Comments OffLearning Should Be Fun
Choose a lesson plan that will be both engaging and enjoyable. There is nothing worse than being bored. Having an interest to learn to play keyboard isn’t the only motivation needed. If you are having fun then you will keep your interest and desire to learn.
Traditional piano lessons used to be all about learning scales and doing your exercises. How boring those hours were sitting at the piano doing endless scales. Although learning your scales and chords are very important, there are fun ways to do them.
Online Learning
You can find fun ways to learn to play keyboard online, and you can choose what you desire to learn as well. Gone are the days where you must follow a strict lesson plan filled with endless childish songs, that although very suitable for a young player do not keep an adult interested for very long.
Free Lessons
There are free lessons available that are designed to take you from the beginners level to intermediate material where you will learn music theory, advanced chords and other secrets to get you playing your favorite songs in no time.
No matter what genre of music you wish to learn, online lessons are available. Learning to play by ear will teach you improvisational skills so you can play along with your friends or entertain your family during the holidays.
More Than Just Music
When you learn to play keyboard you have a virtual band at your fingertips. There is no limit to what you can do with the various rhythms and instrument sounds found on even the most basic keyboard.
Learning chords is just the beginning. Once you master rhythm and patterns you will be able to write your own songs and amaze your family and friends.
Audio And Video Lessons
By combining both audio and video lessons, you will have the opportunity to see the proper fingering techniques while perfecting your ability to pick out chords and notes by ear, which is necessary for improvisation.
Site Reading
If you are able to read music, online lessons will help your site reading skills as well. Often there are screen shots of sheet music to study. It is not too often to find a musician who has the ability to play by ear and site read. As a fellow musician who does play by ear, I often wish I could site read, but this did not stop me from trying to learn to play keyboard.
So, whether you are just starting out or are looking for a challenge, the internet has something for everyone.
