Taking It Slow

Some people make the mistake of jumping ahead of their abilities, and this leads to frustration and finally quitting before they even get a good start. Learning guitar chords  and learning them correctly is the key to success. If you have an idea of what the basic chords are on the guitar, then you know what I am talking about here.

Find A Good Program

You can find free tutorials online to help get you started and get the feel for the guitar, but to really learn, a good program is needed. You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on beginner courses. By doing some research you will find well structured learning programs that will take you from the novice to the intermediate stages of learning guitar chords.

Pace Yourself

Find a program that is suited to your individual learning level. Everyone learns at their own rate. Preview a program if possible to be sure it is not too fast paced. If you cannot keep up you will become frustrated and give it up altogether.

Stick With It

Some chords are harder then others, and that is why it is important to master the basic chords first before moving on to complex areas. If you find yourself getting stuck, take a break. A good thing about DVD programs is you can review them over and over until you get it right.Whichever program you decide, remember, practice does make perfect, and another important note: have fun!
