Tattoo Symbols—Tips for Getting the Right Lower Back Tattoo
February 18, 2010 on 6:09 am | By admin | In ArtsWhy are lower back tattoos so popular?
Getting tattoo symbols on your lower back is a great idea, especially if you’re a woman. More and more women are getting tattoos on this part of their body these days. Not only will it look great, it will also make your waist appear more narrowed.
What kind of options do you have?
With so many designs and symbols to choose from, you may have a hard time making your decision. It’ll be a lot easier if you categorize the tattoo symbols and designs into the following groups:
Your own personality
Do you have any specific hobbies or interests? Use them for inspiration for your tattoo art. If you’re in a band, for instance, you could have a guitar incorporated in the design or other music related symbols. Do you love unicorns or dragons? Why not get a unicorn or dragon tattoo?
Your imagination
Are there any images you find particularly inspiring or appealing? If so, then choose them as your tattoo symbols. If you’re in love with a particular art piece or story, use it as inspiration. A lot of people also use symbolism as the basis for their tattoo design.
Flowers
Flowers are extremely popular elements in tattoo art. Even men sometimes incorporate flowers into their designs. Look over a flower meaning guide to determine which blossom represents you and your personality. Popular choices include: daisies, the lotus flower, Japanese cherry blossoms, and roses.
Celestial symbols
The sun, moon, stars, and heavens are all common elements found in tattoo symbols in every culture around the world. From ancient Aztec designs to modern Science-fiction designs, many people want celestial images to be in their tattoo art.
A loved one
Many people choose to get a tattoo in honor of somebody else. Of course, you’ve probably heard that getting a boyfriend or girlfriend’s name tattooed on you isn’t a good idea, yet many people still do anyway. And then there are those who get a tattoo to honor a loved one who has recently passed away. This is a great way to keep a part of that person with them forever.
Nationality and heritage
Do the colors of a particular flag appeal to you? It’s not uncommon for people to use their country’s flag colors as part of their tattoo symbols. Some people also choose images that represent their heritage, such as leprechauns for an Irish heritage or the koi fish for a Japanese heritage.
Animals—both real and mythical
As mentioned above, both dragons and unicorns are popular in tattoo art, so it’s not surprising to know that real animals are as well. Tiger tattoos, for instance, are very popular, since tigers are both very beautiful and powerful. Eagles are also popular as they represent courage, pride, and power. Butterflies are pretty popular with young women since they are both lovely and elegant.
There are countless tattoo symbols to choose from. Think about your personality, nationality, favorite colors, interests, and style. You don’t even have to settle on an existing design—you can create your own or have an artistic friend do so for you! You could also pay the tattoo artist to customize a unique design for you, although it will cost extra money.
